Rocker Billie Joe Armstrong has sold a classic car from his personal collection for $12,600 in an online auction.
The Green Day frontman put the 1964 Chevrolet Impala on eBay.com without a reserve price, revealing that he wanted to “pass this car on to another owner for their enjoyment, rather than let it sit at the studio” as the band prepares to resume its stalled 2013 tour.
The collectors’ item, painted a dark metallic blue, was snapped up on Saturday.
The American Idiot hitmakers scrapped a series of shows in January and February to allow Armstrong time to recover from a 2012 rehab stint. The tour will now kick off this spring.
