Christoph Waltz kicked off the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday by picking up the prize for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in Django Unchained.
Bradley Cooper and Kate Hudson handed the shocked star the accolade for his work as Dr. King Schultz in Quentin Tarantino’s controversial new Western, which also features Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx.
Accepting the night’s first prize, Waltz said, “Thank you so much… It’s extraordinary. Quentin you know that my indebtedness to you and my gratitude knows no words. You entrusted me with this character and you took me on this journey.”
The 70th annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, are underway at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
