Actress Halle Berry has officially signed up to reprise her role as superhero mutant Storm in the upcoming X-Men movie.
Director Bryan Singer thrilled fans of the sci-fi franchise on Monday by taking to his Twitter.com blog to confirm rumors of the Oscar winner’s involvement in the sequel to 2011′s X-Men: First Class as the cast and crew prepare to begin shooting in Montreal, Canada.
He wrote, “Couldn’t be more excited that #HalleBerry has joined the cast of #XMen #DaysofFuturePast. Hopefully she can improve the weather in Montreal.”
Berry portrayed Ororo Munroe and her alter ego Storm in the original X-Men trilogy, which was rebooted for 2011 prequel X-Men: First Class starring Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender.
All four main actors are set to return for the forthcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, while Berry’s original X-Men co-star Hugh Jackman is also onboard to return as Wolverine.
The new installment of the comic book adaptation is due to hit theatres in the summer of 2014.
