Actor Richard Gere is set to be honored for his lifetime of career achievements at this year’s Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland.
The Pretty Woman star and outspoken campaigner for Tibetan rights will be handed the prestigious Golden Icon Award during a special gala on 23 September.
A statement from festival director Karl Spoerri reads, “Richard Gere is an extraordinary man whose accomplishments in Hollywood are equaled by his humanitarian achievements. We’re honored to recognize his amazing career at the Zurich Film Festival.”
The actor’s new film, Arbitrage, will also be screened at the event, which kicks off on 20 September.
