You’d be forgiven for thinking Katie Holmes was a single parent these days, so long has it been since we saw her on the arm of her elusive husband Tom Cruise.

First she left Top Gun Tom at home to attend the American Idol finale with Suri (we’re sure he was rooting for Adam Lambert from the comfort of his own sofa).

Then mother and daughter were left alone again to spend a lazy Sunday shopping in Los Angeles.

We caught up with the pair hitting the Cruise-Holmes bank account hard at Hollywood retail mecca The Grove.

After they were all shopped out, Suri sank her teeth — and face — into a chocolate-filled croissant….

managing to smear the sweet treat all over her face.
