There’s been no more news on Mischa Barton’s status since it was reported she’d been placed on involuntary psychiatric hold by the LAPD on Thursday, but the silence is being treated by many as confirmation the 23 year old really did have some kind of meltdown.

Fingers are being pointed at a recent Heat magazine cover in Britain which flagged up pictures of the star looking super skinny in January and “bloated in July”.

Life & Style interviewed her after the mag hit stands — just days before the ‘meltdown’ in fact — and she laughed it off.

The quotes, which appeared in this week’s issue, read, “It does get cumbersome to have to address the same non-issues on a repeated basis. Fortunately, I’m healthy and comfortable in my own skin.

“I’m happy. I wouldn’t change my body and I couldn’t anyway. The only way to be happy and be a more enjoyable person is to embrace what you’ve got.”

Was she hiding the real truth?

For the record, we ran into Mischa two weeks ago in LA (see above) and she definitely didn’t look “bloated”.
