Moth-eaten

Sienna Miller looked like her dress had been attacked by moths at last night’s opening night of her new Broadway show After Miss Julie.
And it wasn’t the only thing in tatters, according to theatre critics — who’ve given the show a bit of a savaging.
Variety described her as “out of her depth” while the New York Times criticised the lack of chemistry with her love interest, played by Jonny Lee Miller.

What’s up Sharon?

The normally bubbly Sharon Osbourne was all doom and gloom on Wednesday, while filming the upcoming Celebrity Apprentice 3 in New York City.
Perhaps she was worried about daughter Kelly injuring her foot in the U.S. show Dancing with the Stars?
Either that or she is hugely regretting signing up for Donald Trump’s reality show…
What has he got them doing?

Bah Humbug!

Christopher Lloyd is a grump at Christmas – a year after playing miser Scrooge in a Los Angeles stage production of A Christmas Carol, he’s signed up to play The Grinch throughout the holiday period.
The Back To The Future star doesn’t have an awful lot to smile about these days – his Carol at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood was a big flop a year ago and last November (08), wildfires destroyed the $11 million Montecito home he was trying to sell.
Here’s hoping a little Grinch-mas magic in Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! cheers him up a bit.
And here’s an ironic titbit – Jim Carrey, who played the Grinch on the big screen, will be playing Scrooge on the big screen this holiday season.

Bye Bye!

If you want to go see Bye Bye Birdie on Broadway, you’d better hurry up — cos after the savaging it got from New York’s theatre press today, it ‘aint gonna be running for long.
The best rating it got was 1.5/5 from the Post, who called stars John Stamos “frozen” and Gina Gershon “at sea”.
The New York Daily News called them “robotic”
But we’ll leave the last word to the New York Times’ Ben Brantley:
“Theatergoers may feel an empathetic urge to rush home and bury their heads in their pillows.”

Spice Girls: The Musical

The Spice Girls are apparently turning their story into a theatre musical.
Scary Spice has confirmed the singers are all working on a top secret project.
And the Daily Mirror claims they’re writing a stage extravaganza.
A ’source’ says, “The project is Geri (Halliwell)’s baby really, but all the girls are backing it. The idea is for five relatively unknown actresses to take the parts and hopefully the girls will each have a say in who is cast.”
